Pop up shop serves Toon Army during major refurbishment

Modular retail specialist, Rapid Retail, has designed, built and installed a temporary store for Newcastle United to support the club’s commitment to its supporters and preserving the fan experience, during a major refurbishment of its Official Store.

The fully accessible and DDA compliant merchandising unit has taken pride of place in St James’ Park next to the Strawberry Pub and St James’ Park Metro Station, where it will remain for the summer.

Its arrival comes as the club shop undergoes an extensive refurbishment as part of Adidas’ return as the club’s official kit partners – with the club having recently unveiled its first Adidas home shirt in a decade and a half. The temporary store will give fans an opportunity to physically see and purchase the new kit, which will also be available from the NUFC online store, along with other club merchandise.

The club is renting the 12metre by 18metre bespoke modular shop to help cater for demand, while offering visitors the full fan experience, with a chance to see and purchase the full range of club merchandise.

When the temporary store at St James’ Park is no longer needed it will be repurposed for a new assignment, with as many elements of the unit being reused as possible, as part of Rapid Retail’s commitment to sustainability and a circular retail model.

From Premier League teams through to non-league clubs, Rapid Retail supports sporting venues with a wide range of needs, with its bespoke units available to either rent or buy. Other recent projects for Rapid Retail include the supply of a ticket office to Edgbaston and a temporary store to Lords, ready for the summer cricket season, while a sensory area and shop unit have taken pride of place at Ascot Racecourse. The team is also now busy preparing units for use at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
